Sherlock Holmes is widely regarded as the archetype of the classic detective and is probably one of the most famous figures in the literature of the last and the last century. As well as the quirky genius detective with the apartment in 221b Baker Street in London, impresses with his rational thinking, his incredible powers of deduction and his eidetic memory.
Already established in 1886 by the British physician and writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle into life, Holmes delighted with his partner Dr. Watson for a few years back immense popularity. This is mainly due to the modernization of the substance by Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" of 2009 and the British television series "Sherlock" from the year 2010, which completely shifted the story even into modern times. No wonder that it did not take Guy Ritchie to shoot a sequel to his surprise hit.
This time is the wedding of Dr. John Watson (Jude Law) is imminent. Much to the chagrin of Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.), who must solve his cases because of the engagement of his longtime and loyal partner for quite some time alone. So also the bomb attacks in Europe that have recently frighten. In contrast to the politics and the media, and the latter a group of suspected anarchists, Holmes has already identified a particular person as the person in charge: Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris). Looks as if the brilliant scientists as dangerous to it as play, too intellectual duel with Holmes and thereby fulfill his diabolical plan. Already at bachelor goodbye to Dr. Watson, there is an incident. Holmes learns how opaque the fortune teller Madam Simza Heron (Naomi Rapace) know. Your brother is gone and has left a cryptic letter, could steal the Holmes Moriarty. Together to make Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson with Madam Simza on the search for her brother to try and dissuade Professor Moriarty, Europe to fall into total chaos.
"Sherlock Holmes - playing in the shadow" picks up right where left off on "Sherlock Holmes". This also means that Guy Ritchie has interpreted the figure once more at a very brisk and action-packed kind. Everyone was able to begin in Part 1 is nothing, find no pleasure in this branch. All others, however, get their money back. Above all, the omnipresent sense of humor, sometimes dry, sarcastic, sometimes subtilunterschwellig, but always thoroughly British, this film does so well worth seeing. Particularly in the primary goals are the squabbles between Holmes and Watson. This is due primarily to the reinterpretation of the great characters of the two actors, Robert Downey Jr. in the first place. Makes with unswerving transparency as to whether his genius slightly arrogant, extremely powerful and never embarrassed by a snappy slogan Master Detective a wonderful job. But a Jude Law in his capacity as Stubborn counterpart Dr. Watson, who in turn is also not fallen on the white mouth to convince. In addition, the film sparkles with irony. Known from the previous fight scenes in which Sherlock Holmes describes its impact and consequences will hit zones before, this time as the director made fun of, like the wonderfully überzeichneten linings of the detective. A special highlight is the costume as a tribute to the spy in "Asterix and Cleopatra" may be understood.
That Guy Ritchie has an extraordinary knack for black humor was wonderful, already well known, but that he also has an extraordinary talent for staging furious action sequences, he is impressively demonstrated here. At all corners and ends are shot, beaten or something explodes. This is Ritchie sent fast cut sequences and slow-motion elements in contrast to each other. This concept has been implemented in a chase in a forest especially impressive. Constantly shatter trees and branches in all sorts of extreme slow motion, while the fighting between them and were enormously furious filmed breathtakingly fast. In addition, explosions shake the entire area and bathe the scene in ghostly smoke. Such a stylish and technically almost perfectly realized Action deposit you got to face long gone. Guy Ritchie, it creates so again in very impressive fashion the world-famous detective Sherlock Holmes and breathe new life into the character so popular still to make, as far as is possible.
